Scheduling posts

I want to be able to schedule a post on Dreamwidth, but it doesn't have that feature. However, it does have post-by-email, which gives me this workaround!

  1. Create an empty Gmail account
  2. Install the Boomerang for Gmail Chrome extension
  3. When prompted, give it rights to do whatever it wants with this email account. This is why I created an empty account instead of using my real one!
  4. Setup my new email address and pin in the DW Email Posting config page.
  5. Go to Pin Usage Examples to get the new to: address that includes the pin.
  6. In Gmail, compose an email to that address, which the title and content of the scheduled post.
  7. Click "Send Later", chose the time I want it to post, and hit "confirm".

Et voila! A scheduled post! Like this one!

EDIT: There were some random newlines in here. I clicked 'Disable auto-formatting' and saved and they went away. So, guess I have to figure out how to make that my default, or to enable it from within the email.

EDITEDIT: If I start and end with <rawcode> it gets rid of the random line returns. Hooray? I wish I could just use the formatting tools in the gmail compose window, rather than having to type out html.

Handy! Thank you for posting about this workaround. I've added it to my "how to DW" post here. :D

Oh no! The tragedy of having to type out HTML.

You can use markdown instead of html -- works in posts and emails, *doesn't* work in replies made on site.

Hi there, sorry to comment on a post from ages ago but this is the only method of scheduling posts I've seen still! Do you know why posts are being posted as Members only when the default for the comm I am scheduling the posts for should be Everyone can view?
